OpenISRC

OpenISRC is a free, open-data, non-profit service that enables musical artists, record labels, publishers and distributors to collect worldwide royalties from commercial sound recordings.

OpenISRC is a prospective modern replacement for legacy ISRC (ISO 3901 in 1986). OpenISRC helps artists collect more royalties than legacy ISRC by enabling any payer to immediately lookup ownership of any OpenISRC code. OpenISRC also improves upon legacy ISRC by being free, permanent (legacy ISRC codes expire after 100 years), and country-agnostic. OpenISRC makes available 512,379,405 unique codes that will never collide with any past or future ISRC code. By contrast, legacy ISRC has already exhausted its supply of U.S. codes, which only allows for approximately 46,655 registrants.

OpenISRC is designed to be fully backward-compatible with ISRC and supported everywhere ISRC is utilized.

Developer API, SDK, and data repositories are available for registrants to register new OpenISRC codes, and for payers to lookup ownership information of any OpenISRC code.
